I couldn't go on the slide :( but James and Ava sure enjoyed it!

now.. if you know anything about Ava.. you can take 2 guesses what this look was for.
 yep.. FIRE TRUCK!!

 1st Pronto Pup!!
Ava was sooo excited to get up close and personal with the fire trucks during the station tour :)

Happy Birthday Aunt Steph!

 Happy Birthday, Steph!

We celebrated my middle sister's birthday on Friday at the Oread in Lawrence.

We showed up with the same earrings and carrying the same purse. (in all fairness, I had the purse first, she had the earrings!)
Anyways.. happy birthday to my beautiful sister.  We hope you have the best year ever!

Preschool Picnic!

Ava's last week of preschool is next week, so her class celebrated today with a picnic in the park.  They had a great time playing and eating together.  James was free for a couple hours to join us!  Ava has thoroughly enjoyed meeting new friends and I've definitely enjoyed a couple hours of peace and quiet :)  Looking forward to next year!!

We have a busy week ahead, so check back for more Bogener family fun :-)

Party @ Sophie's!

Yesterday, we had a little party at our friends house.  One of the doctors in James' practice has a daughter Ava's age, and they have become quite the BFF's through play dates and preschool.  And Sophie's house is like kid paradise!  Kayaks, paddle boats, fishing, cars, a bounce house.. we had so much fun!

P.S... Don't forget to vote in our baby name poll!

The Nursery Project

Oh... project nursery.  You are taking forever.

This is a cruel teaser post, but at least you can feel a bit of my pain in how long this project is taking!
Before, this room was blue.  Navy blue.  That's all I have to say about it.  A lot of paint, 2 months, a big accident, a little bit of money ;), and a LOT of patience later.. we're ALMOST done!!!  Just waiting on something I ordered over a month ago :)

Blue.
 James' contribution to this project.
(oh I'm going to be in trouble for that one!  love you honey :))

Looks like we painted the room white!

Ha, yep.. that was my bump back then :)
James came in to check on my progress..
(double trouble!)

And so did my sort-of helper..

Okay, now in all seriousness, this was James' contribution to the project.  Holding the lazer level so I could tape.  Next time, we'll do vertical stripes.  Aye aye aye..
Also, when we started.. Lucy was a teeny tiny puppy.
Stripe time.
 ...and my helper is back

Ugh.  My hands are shaking just typing this.
After 3 coats of paint, hours of leveling, taping, more paint, etc..
James came home from work one day and I was in our room working on my laptop.  He walks up the stairs and Ava hollers "DADDY JAMES!! I DID IT!!  I HELPED IN BABY AIDEN'S ROOM!!!"  She takes his hand and leads him into the room.  "Isn't it BEAUTIFUL?" she exclaims.
"Babe, you better come take a look at this..." he says.
I walk in the room and Ava has this shit-eating grin on her face (see below).
"Oh mommy, it's SO BEAUTIFUL.  Do you like it?  I did it, I helped!"
I looked over at James, and he immediately put his head down.. and started laughing.
I could feel the tears coming, but instead, tears turned to laughter, as Ava repeated "It's SO beautiful! I helped you mommy, I did it!"

You sure did, baby.  You walked all the way downstairs to the trash and took the roller out from the night before.. walked back upstairs and painted on all four walls.  You even managed to get chunks of paint on the wall, which had almost dried.. so in order to fix it, we needed to sand - a lot.. then re-paint.

the grin.

and us.. post re-paint.

and Lucy.. snuggled up to my belly saying "SHE DID IT!"

little helper, indeed.
Check back soon for part 2!
