Oh, Aiden. It's hard to believe how much you've grown and changed in only one year. Last year, you were a baby. Now, at two years old, you are a knock knock joke telling, hat wearing, teeth brushing, fun-loving, cuddle buddy and a true joy to everyone.
I'll be honest. I never saw myself as a mother to a boy. I don't have brothers. Very few boy cousins. I thought boys would be mud throwing, un-affectionate, poop-obsessed, wiener scratching.. boys. I don't know anything about tractors or dump trucks. I can't even begin to tell you, my sweet boy, how wrong I was. Well.. you are kind of obsessed with the word poop, but anyways.. moving on.

You are the most loving, caring child. You are constantly hugging and kissing and "love patting" all of us. You love your sisters so much, and besides a few hair pulling incidents, you are extremely kind and gentle to them. Just today, Finley was on the floor crying and I was making breakfast, and you took over your most favorite thing in the world.. your "woo" (blankie) and you laid it on her and rubbed her back. About this woo. You are like Linus.. you drag that thing everywhere. The "woo" comes with us in the car, on the airplane, to the mall, to the park. And we're not talking a little washcloth sized piece of fabric. Nope. Your woo.. is a quilt. And it has a torn corner that you hold while you suck your thumb and go to sleep. We always say.. "make sure he has his corner!"
We call you buddy because you are everyone's bud. Especially to your papa. Sometime in the past year, you've taken a liking to hats because your papa wears one. Now, you wear one too every chance you get. Your favorite hat is your red Chiefs hat! You follow your papa anywhere and everywhere.
I think your daddy would say that one of the most special things you do is you block the driveway every night when he drives in because you're standing in his spot yelling "DADA! DADA!" He always stands there and waits for me to come move you so he can pull his truck in. It's really freaking adorable.
As for me, well, there is one thing that stands out more than all the rest, because Ava rarely did this with me. You crawl up on the couch, plant your behind in my lap, I put your woo over your legs, and you lay back and just sit there. For as long as I let you. You stick that thumb in your mouth, and we could probably sit like that all day and watch tv if you wanted and if I could sit that long (lol). It's one of the highlights of my day. I can't stand some of those kids shows, but being able to cuddle with you on the couch makes them bearable.
Ava is your best friend. When she leaves with her dad, you stand at the door and cry for her. You get mad when she goes to friends' houses. You are happy to see her when she returns, and you greet her with a big hug. Ava is just 3 simple letters, but you call her "eye-ahh." You spend your days playing together. Laughing, some hair-pulling, minimal biting, smiling, and being the best of siblings. She is *your* bud.
Aiden, you have so many people that love you. You have the most wonderful grandparents, aunts, great-grandparents, cousins, friends, etc. You even have a little girlfriend named Avalee! (that might be confusing some day) Your favorite foods are bananas, fruit snacks, apples, and pasta. But you will eat anything! You even like green beans and asparagus! And kielbasa! Your favorite show is Paw Patrol and your favorite movie is Frozen. You love shoes. You still sleep in a crib and have really yet to climb out. One of my other favorite things about you is that you sleep 12 straight hours a night. THANK YOU my child. THANK YOU. (hopefully Finley inherits this soon)
Your daddy and I are so proud of the little man you are becoming. You are truly a joy to have and the best son I could've ever asked for. You bring so much laughter and happiness to our lives. At least a couple times a day, I stand in awe and just watch you figure out the world. You melt my heart! We love you so very much. Happy 2nd birthday, buddy.
