Oh, and I quit my job. How did I forget to blog about that?! Pregnancy brain, hellooo! I've spent the past 6 years now working in investment finance. Mutual funds, equity trading, fund accounting, institutional insurance investing, complex securities.. you name it. For the past 3+, I've been at this firm in downtown KC. I was fortunate to be able to port my job to Salina and work out of my house, but it wasn't working out as well as I'd hoped. The hours, the demand.. anyways, it became too much. After a couple weeks of soul searching, discussing with James (and Ava!), we decided that it was time. Staying home was never really in my plan, but the guilt factor was creeping in and it became evident that my family needed me more! The timing was pretty perfect. I get the last 2 months of my pregnancy to enjoy life with Ava and transition to life with 2 kids! (yikes) Anyways. My options are always open, we'll see how it goes, I do miss the people, I don't miss the hours, yadda yadda yadda.
So what are we up to now?
Well, our days are pretty busy, actually!
We cook..
We have dance parties..
We have friends over to play..
Plus preschool, soccer, crafting, shopping, playing, day trips, and whatever else we can think of!
And we finished the backyard!
James has been working hard on the lights. I take it back, honey, I do care and I do like them.
Our inaugural fire and marshmallow roast.
How to roast a marshmallow, according to Ava:
Place on stick
Light on fire
Blow out
Repeat
Discard charred 'mallow into fire once it no longer resembles a marshmallow.
"woowwww, cool fire!"
Other than that, I hit the 8 month mark and I'm feeling it! At our last appointment, the baby was measuring nicely and I start the bi-weekly appointments now. And with that.. we're taking a little "baby moon" this week and going on our last vacation as a family of 3! Yahoo!
