Princess Ava (aka Flower Girl)

My friend Kristen (my very first friend at KU) got married this weekend and asked Ava to be her flower girl.  Obviously, this was a huge behavioral test for both me as a parent.. and for Ava.  Friday at the rehearsal, she was great.  Saturday morning was a completely different story.  Everything I asked of her was a firm "no."  When I asked her if she wanted to go to the wedding, she again, gave me a stern NO.  After I took a breather to regroup, I came back in and said "do you want to be a princess?"  Cha-CHING!  I put the princess' gown on and her little tiara, and off we went!  She and Anderson (ring bearer) walked down the aisle hand in hand and hugged when they got to the front.  Even though she had a meltdown shortly thereafter, I would still consider Ava's first flower girl experience a success!  The princess, however, lost her "powers" at midnight, so she is back to being a normal two-year old today.  Oh joy!

Practicing at the rehearsal.  Shortly before the processional, they informed us that this particular church had the longest aisle in all of Kansas City.  Just what every parent wants to hear :)

Kristen made such a beautiful bride!!
